In 2012, St. Joseph’s Health System (SJHS) was solicited by Nunavut’s Department of Health to assist in their Mental Health and Addictions programs and to create a strategic plan for Qikiqtani General Hospital (QGH).
Since then, the partnership between the Nunavut’s Department of Health and St. Joseph’s Health System has deepened with SJHS proudly providing ongoing support for a variety of administrative duties.
With the support from the Nunavut Deputy Minister of Health, Colleen Stockley, collaborations include establishment of “Virtual Quality Team” at SJHS that exclusively focuses on Nunavut priorities and projects; Appointing a territorial Director for Mental Health and Addictions and Medical Affairs; Communication and implementation of new policies and procedures; Development of first Medical Staff Bylaws and much more.
“The support and guidance of the St. Joseph’s team is valued by the Department of Health. The collaborative team approach supports Inuit societal values and the Department of Health’s mission and vision to provide excellent health care to Nunavummiut.”
