Celebrating our Mission and Nursing Week 2024
May 7, 2024On May 8, 2024, St. Joseph’s Health System gathers for Mission Day, an annual event celebrating our mission – Living the Legacy. Compassionate Care, Faith and Discovery. It’s an opportunity for senior leaders, board members, clinical leaders and researchers from St. Joseph’s Health System member organizations and foundations to celebrate our teams, share stories and create new opportunities to accelerate our impact and advance our mission.
This year’s Mission Day event falls during Nursing Week, an important time to recognize and celebrate these integral healthcare professionals who live our mission every day. This year’s Nursing Week theme is Changing Lives. Shaping Tomorrow. Nurses play a vital role in connecting people to life-changing care and transforming the way health care is delivered across our region. We cannot thank them enough for all they do.
St. Joseph’s Health System is home to 10,000 healthcare workers who deliver high-quality, compassionate care across the care continuum – from acute care, long-term care, home and community care, to rehabilitation and hospice. As our System members gather to celebrate Mission Day, we recognize that we couldn’t do this work without the nurses who step up and lean in to our mission, serving patients, residents and families when they need it most.
There are many ways to show your gratitude to a nurse this week. On May 8, all healthcare workers are encouraged to wear blue, the colour for Nursing Week. You can attend an event, reflect on why you chose the path of healthcare, and by simply thanking a nurse.
Many of St. Joseph’s Health System member organizations have curated Nursing Week activities, recognition campaigns and personalized thank-you messages. We are proud to amplify this work and celebrate the impact our System-wide nursing community has every day.
Happy Nursing Week. Thank-you for serving our patients and living our mission.
