Statement from St. Joseph’s Health System Board Chair Sister Anne Anderson

(HAMILTON, ONTARIO – January 11, 2021) The St. Joseph’s Health System is committed to providing the best health care possible for our patients and the communities we serve.

The staff, physicians, nurses and volunteers across our organization have proven themselves to be heroes throughout the very challenging COVID-19 pandemic.

We commend them for their dedication and want to extend our gratitude.

St. Joseph’s Health System and Dr. Thomas Stewart have parted ways on a without cause basis. His requested vacation was Board approved.

All terms of Dr. Stewart’s contract will be upheld by both parties.

Our focus is to lift our communities by caring for our patients and their families.

To that end, we are pleased to announce that Winnie Doyle has been appointed as the Interim President and CEO of St. Joseph’s Health System effective January 18, 2021.

Ms. Doyle was Executive Vice President, Clinical Programs and spent time as Interim President of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.

Now, under Ms. Doyle’s leadership, we will continue to provide the excellent and compassionate health care that the people in our communities have come to rely on.
